Charity Work: Central Texas Tortoise Rescue

Lately I've had the pleasure of photographing for Central Texas Tortoise Rescue.  It's kind of an ongoing project that you'll likely see more of in the future.

Central Texas Tortoise Rescue is a new rescue facility between San Marcos and Wimberley, Texas.  It stemmed from a love for turtles and turned into something a little bigger.  They're reaching capacity and are ready to start finding homes for these pretty amazing creatures.

Keeping up with rescue tortoises is quite the job.  Central Texas Tortoise Rescue is a non-profit organization and always looking for donations to keep up with the day to day needs of the facility.  Many or the tortoises come to the facility with medical needs.  They require vet visits, daily doctoring, shelter, food, and lots of love.  Once they are nursed back to health, they're ready to adopt out into loving homes.

So how can you help?  There are lots of ways actually.  Check them out below.

  • Adopt a turtle:  Visit http://texastortoiserescue.com for more information on how to adopt
  • Use Amazon Smile: Have you ever heard of it?  Basically it's Amazon but a percentage of your purchases can go to the charity of your choice.  I do this and it's so easy.  I'm adicted to Amazon as it is so I may as well give at the same time.  Visit smile.amazon.com to get started.
  • Make a donation:  This doesn't have to be money.  It could be veggies and other yummy eats for tortoises or monetary donations can be made via paypal.  This can be done directly from the Central Texas Tortoise Rescue website. http://texastortoiserescue.com/help/
  • Also at the link above you'll find some super sweet tortoise gear.  15% of your purchase will go directly to Central Texas Tortoise Rescue.
  • Participate in the Tortoise Trot:  That's right, a fun run likely happening in June of 2016.  Keep up with Central Texas Tortoise Rescue via their website or Facebook for more information on the run as it becomes available.
  • Like Central Texas Tortoise Rescue on Facebook and share it with your friends:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Central-Texas-Tortoise-Rescue/876915582333141
